The temperature is sure to dip down soon with the Autumn rains already hitting the south of England. It really isnt that cold year but it is sure to creep in soon.. This has gotten me wondering about my usage habits of my boiler and central heating system at home.
I bet it was a while ago since you switched the heating on.? As the summer wasnt actually too bad it must been even longer since you turned on the heating.?
If you leave it a long time without checking it can cause serious problems for you. You could have trouble lighting the boiler but if that is the case then you are very lucky. The boiler doesnt like being ignored for half the year which is why sometimes it can smoke and even explode. Sometimes boilers can produce a lethal gas that you cannot smell..
If you are thinking of having the boiler serviced then do it now before winter really kicks in. Although it can be expensive to call in a plumber to have a look at the boiler, it is certainly better to be safe than sorry. Look for a list of companies who are trusted, blog posts and review sites can help you too.. There are many lists out there with registered companies who are officially trusted by people and using one of these might be a good idea.
A poor boiler is likely to waste energy too.. Double glazing will actually help keep all of the warmth inside your house..
